Sejak berdirinya, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) telah mencurahkan perhatian yang signifikan pada program studi pascasarjana. CUHK pertama kali memperkenalkan program-program di tingkat pascasarjana dengan didirikannya School of Education pada tahun 1965. Pada tahun berikutnya, Sekolah Pascasarjana (Graduate School) secara resmi didirikan untuk melaksanakan pelatihan penelitian studi pascasarjana di lima program gelar Magister: Bahasa dan Sastra Cina, Bisnis Administrasi, Geografi, Sejarah, dan Filsafat. Sejak saat itu, Sekolah Pascasarjana berkembang baik secara horizontal maupun vertikal dengan merambah ke ranah pendidikan doktoral.
Selama bertahun-tahun, Sekolah Pascasarjana CUHK telah berkoordinasi dengan berbagai unit administrasi pusat, Fakultas dan Divisi Pascasarjana dalam bidang kemahasiswaan dan program di tingkat pascasarjana. Sekolah Pascasarjana akan terus menjalankan fungsinya sebagaimana diatur dalam kerangka acuannya.
